"Even after 30 years, many Vietnam veterans still lead lives dominated by fear and darkness. Our society counts them as misfits and they, themselves, have come to believe this lie. The tragedy is that few have cared about those lost men. Even worse, those that have cared have seldom known how to help them.

A few years ago, when I staffed a Bamboo Bridge weekend, I was astonished at how emotionally crippled many combat veterans were, even after so many years. I am a veteran. I served in Vietnam as a Marine Officer, and I thought my own healing was complete. But, in a workshop so focused on combat trauma, I unexpectedley found I still carried deep wounds from the war. I allowed myself to be "Welcomed Home" that weekend, and I surrendered to deeper healing for myself." -Rich Tosi
